The Modern Language Teachers’ Association of the ACT (MLTA ACT) promotes language learning in the ACT by providing a voice for language teachers and facilitates professional dialogue among ACT colleagues and with colleagues in other jurisdictions.

The MLTA supports members through publications such as our six-monthly e-newsletter Contact, meetings and social events held each term, our website, several scholarships awarded each year, professional learning events including an annual conference, email communications and affiliations to national and international associations. We also enjoy strategic collaborations such as those with the National Gallery of Australia on initiatives for languages teaching and learning.

The MLTA participates in national programs and activities, such as workshops conducted by AFMLTA on Australian Curriculum: Languages. We are affiliated with the World Federation of Modern Language Associations (FIPLV), the Council of the ACT Education Associations (COACTEA) and the national language teachers’ association, AFMLTA, which publishes the refereed journal Babel.
